This is so helpful. I would urge everyone that sees this to give it a read, please!

Ableism is so deeply ingrained in our everyday language that often we don’t even realise we’re saying anything harmful. 

But it’s our responsibility to educate ourselves, not for the people it hurts to plead with us to change. 

(I’m mentally ill and I often say things that are ableist and offensive to myself, so don’t feel like an awful irredeemable person if you get this stuff wrong every once in a while. Just make sure you educate yourself on it and correct yourself if it gets pointed out. It’s a process, but we can do it!)

any of it. literally all of it, the idea of it, the change, even just vaguely brining it up, it all sends me into total fear and anxiety

especially crucial when like, things are being change, like painted or moved in and such
